Some padding for your bottom

Finally getting around to posting some more pictures. Its been a crazy few weeks so not too much progress has been made up at the shop, but here's some updates.

We finally got some of the seats back from the upholstry guy. Here's the solo seat in black vinyl and diamond stitching for T's bike.

And heres some new progress on Kevin's bike build afte the seat was mounted and the new muffler sections tac welded in place. A few more final welds and a coupla two tree bolts and she'll be ready to go. If only the weather would break so we can tune the damn thing...

Pink? Purple? Sparkles? Oh My!!!

So I went through a change of decisions recently and opted to do something a little out of the ordinary for my own bike build. It's been pushed to the backburner for some time now, with all the other customer jobs, Kevin's bike build, and other miscellaneous happenings around the shop. Originally I was gonna shoot the bike in Gloss Black for a traditional bike, but I decided to go outside the box and do something different with it. The result of me using the ol' noggin and thinking, plus many hours of no sleep, alone at the shop working, came up with the decision to do one of the brightest, shiniest, most metallic colors we have. I mean why not right?

It's a two tone job. After stripping, blasting, and prep, the frame was shot in Columbia Chrome, which on its own is an awesome color. Unfortunately, it must be cleared over, and clear powder does dull down the chrome effect a little bit, but in this case, the topcoat serves as the clear. Here's a few shots of the chrome after the cure cycle:

Once the Columbia Chrome has completely cured, the frame was ready for the second coat. Here's a few shots of the powder booth, and the second coat getting applied, as well as some of the coated parts before curing.

Once the second coat has been applied and inspected, it's ready to go back into the oven to cure the second coat. And here's the final result.

Updates 1, Kevin's Bike is really coming along

Finally got around to posting the updated pictures of Kevin's bike. There's been a few more additions since these photos, but here's how its been coming along now.

Tank, Fender, and Battery Tray have all been powdercoated Flat Black. That's no rattle can job fellas.. The master cylinder was just rebuilt, the clutch levers installed, and the tail light has also been temporarily mounted and wired.

Headers have been wrapped, still working on the muffler situations though, its too loud as is. The motor was done in high temp flat black paint, and the sidecovers have been powdercoated in Galvanized Blasted Aluminum. Don't mind the mess of wires.

Here's a close up of the gas tank after powder coating and re-assembly. Again, Powdercoated Flat Black, So it will hold up much better than any rattle can'd flat paint job would.

Here's the battery tray/box which was also shot in Flat Black. It's mounted with chrome wingnuts and acorn nuts for class, and the wires have been tucked and hidden, along with a hidden voltage regulator and rectifier in the box.

Here's a wide shot of the entire bike as it sat. Now the headlight has been re-installed, the wiring has been cleaned/hidden, and the clutch/brake master cylinder/cables have been adjusted. Added some oil and gas and she fired right up in typical Honda fashion. Just waiting to get the seat back from the upholstery guy, the muffler set-up, and some nice weather to tune the thing.

Grey? Blue? or Something in Between?

Here's project number two Steve's workin on. This is a hybrid type of custom build using a Trac moped frame, mated with a Honda Hobbit subframe/swingarm. It incorporates the coolness of a top-tank ped, with the low end torque and power of Honda's variated moped motor. While waiting for the Puch project to be completed, Steve also gave us this one to do as well. It was shot in Anthracite Grey and has a really cool tone to it, kind of blue, kind of grey, definately cool. I'm excited to see it when ya get it all done Steve. Good luck with the build.

Not quite dark enough...

Here's some of the recent work that has been completed. This is a Puch Maxi frame, swingarm, triple trees, and other brackets. Steve made it a dual tank design, which utilizes both the upper cross bar/tank section in conjunction with the OE tank. This is the ped after the first time shooting it. This color is called Ochre Brown, and has a really 70's retro vibe to it. It's also very similar to the goldish yellow color of the UPS logo letterings. Unfortunately, Steve had a darker brown in mind, and it had to be redone with a Chocolate Brown. At All Out Performance and Coatings, we back our products and our services, so a re-coat in a darker brown was not a problem. I will add pictures of the project with new colors as soon as it is completed and Steve sends em over. Thanks again Steve for coming to All Out Performance and Coatings for your powder coating needs. I hope everything works out for both of your builds. Keep us posted and we can add some completed build pictures for ya.
